As you know, I initially made this bag for my recent travels to Ottawa earlier this year to visit Radley. (More about that here if you’re new). I only made the trip a handful of times but Radley has been commuting every single weekend. At first, I hated the idea of this new venture. The thought of being far away from each other on top of shouldering the kids and chores by myself was daunting.

A few months in and it’s surprisingly not that bad. For me anyway.  Thanks to technology, we’re able to stay in touch 24/7 and it helped that he’s been consistent in coming home every week. However, this arrangement is no longer sustainable. It’s taken a toll on him and it’s certainly not enough for the kids. They resist every time he leaves and are left heartbroken. It’s been an emotional roller coaster ride for them and it’s for this reason we made the decision to relocate – at least for the time being.

It’s not really a goodbye because my eldest, Ryan, will remain in Toronto to finish school. We’ll be back often to check on him and our home.

I’ll continue to update you here as things progress.

Tote Bags!

I’m so excited to add these simple tote bags to my product offerings! This is just a tad taller than the zippered bags thanks to the drawstring closure.

It fits at least 3-4 skeins of yarn with a WIP generously.

The handle is made out of cotton webbing and yes, of course, it has a zippered pocket in the back, as always!

I originally made this bag out of necessity for myself back in February. I was going to be doing a bit of travelling from Toronto to Ottawa in the coming months (if you want to know why and haven’t read this post yet, I talked about it on my latest podcast) and wanted easy access to my projects without having to dig in to my luggage or carry on.

I used it for over a month and it quickly became my new favorite thing.

I hope you love it as much as I do!

I hope you’ll stop by the shop this Friday!

Shop Update this Friday!

Shop Update this Friday, May 24, 2019 at 7pm EST

I have been working on updating the shop for a couple of months now and I’m excited to share all the bags that will be available this Friday.

First and foremost, I want to let you know that this is the last run of both fabric and color combinations. If you’ve had your eye on a particular style, consider this your last call!

Both the knit and sheep small drawstring bags from the main collection: Pink/white; Natural/black; Grey/white will be restocked. I will also have several available in copper ink. This option is now available worldwide and no longer exempts Europe.

For this update, I decided to make the larger, 3-4 skein bags with a drawstring closure instead of a zipper. It will still have an outer zippered pocket in the back (both styles do) as shown below. Perfect for your notions!

I’ve also been secretly working on a new bag and I can’t wait to show you… tomorrow!

Stay tuned 🙂

Trunk Show at Spun

I’ll be coming to Spun Fibre Arts for a trunk show this Saturday, February 23rd from 10-4pm.

My friend, Antonella of Cosy Posy Yarn Co. will be there as well.

I am very excited to meet with you and share my collection of project bags and accessories.

Hope to see you there!

the DIY prescription

I have been busy working away in the studio and updating the blog has taken a back seat. It’s just me doing all the cutting, printing and sewing and with a few more orders to go before Christmas, I’m taking some time to do a bit of admin work this morning before starting another large production.

It’s been about a month now but nevertheless, I am so excited to let you know that you can now find Pearadise Island project bags at Toronto’s newest and baddest local yarn store – The Knitting Loft!

TKL_2

I had the pleasure of meeting the women behind TKL during their grand opening on Sunday, October 14. Bruna, Maria, Valentina and Viviana are a tight-knit family of makers. Together, they created a homey, welcoming space to gather and knit. Their store is conveniently located just 25 minutes away from me and I’m excited to finally have a LYS filled with an exceptional array of yarns and knitting accessories from all over the world.

Spinnacle Yarns, Hedgehog Fiber, Lichen and Lace, Isager, Madelinetosh, Knitting for Olive, Harrisville Designs just to name a few. They also have a cafe and a studio in the basement soon to be open for workshops!

It is a beautiful store and I highly recommend visiting if you are ever in the area!

The Knitting Loft is located at 672 Wilson Avenue, North York, ON M3K 1E1
